Yesterday was our first of monthly fresh fruit deliveries for FCS students.
For some of these students, it was their first time trying plums!
Thank You Stroh Orchards for our new partnership. 🍎🍐🍊
We try to post and share highlights from our schools and athletics to inform our community of all of the remarkable events that take place at Fremont Community Schools. While we have much to celebrate and share all of the great things that are happening, it is equally important to address serious concerns. Last week's communication was intended to inform, not alarm, regarding a potential threat to FCS. Please know that we take all threats seriously, as the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
The investigation is complete. There is no evidence of a weapon, no evidence of threats toward FCS and no evidence of threats toward FCS staff/students. We are continuing the suspension pending expulsion and charging the student with causing a disruption to the educational purpose of the school. (Student talked about having a gun at class struggles. The student's statement about a gun caused fear in the school community).
A parent recently asked, "Are the schools safe?" Yes, our schools are very safe! We have a dedicated, safety trained staff, along with exceptional School Resource Officers. We have a strong partnership with the Fremont Police Department, Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police, along with top-notch safety equipment and protocols. During these issues we will continue to have a greater law enforcement presence in our schools.
Another parent inquired, "Would you send your child to school?" Absolutely. I have a stepson in his senior year at Fremont, and I have complete confidence in his safety while attending FCS. I also regard all 1,000 students at FCS as my own, and their safety is my highest priority.
These are challenging times, and it is essential that we support one another. I encourage you to take a moment this week to engage in conversation with your child(ren). If they see or hear something concerning, please encourage them to speak with you or a school staff member. Our ability to address these issues effectively depends on our collaboration.
Fremont is a special place, and we are committed to providing the best education for our students in a safe environment
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Dr. William Stitt
